The Difference between Maulvi and Sufi
Therefore, Maulvi is knowledge, but Sufi is action. Maulvi is the body, Sufi is the heart. Maulvi will witness the reward and punishment for actions in the Hereafter, but Sufi observes the affairs of Barzakh in the worldly life. The things that Maulvi sees in his dreams, Sufi sees them through Kashf while he's awake. That's why Sufi has a sort of similarity with angels, as stated in Mishkaat:
It is reported by Hazrat Jabir (RAA) regarding the inmates of Paradise that the Holy Prophetﷺ said, 'the praise and eulogy of Allah will be bestowed upon them as a gift, just as breathing has been made a part of your nature."
